According to my weekly substack writing reminder, I’ve been missing for slightly over a month. I Hope I had fun.
And I did! I went to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for almost a full week. It was the 18th annual Golden Crown Literary Society Convention. I’ve been going since 2013, and this one, after two years of virtual conferences, was spectacular! I had so much fun going and spending time with 300-odd women and non-binary folks who just loved on each other from the first coffee of the day till the last….whatever you were drinking! It was so good. Coming home was SO HARD because I had left so many friends behind there. It took me a good week to get past the post-con letdown or depression!
But while I was there, I pitched my latest book to a new publisher and they asked to see the full manuscript! EXCITING! As soon as I got home I started getting it in final shape. I had to go through eleven pages of formatting requirements. Eleven! Whew! Then I had to write a 750-word synopsis, which is harder than it sounds. My first attempt came in at 1500-words! Throw in a character sketch, this time 250-words, and a lengthy cover letter. Whew! Again. I finally sent it off this week!
I also was asked if I would like to be in an art show, down in the Art District of Denver. (On Santa Fe Drive and 9th). It’s at Access Gallery, which does art with young people with disabilities. This is their fundraiser and I’m thrilled to be included and able to support a great organization. Tickets are only $9.99 and the show is on Friday, Sept. 16th from 6 to 9 pm. I’d show you what I have done on the painting, but I’m not sure I’m allowed! So I’ll show you the last painting I finished before starting this one.
Hope your summer is going as well as mine is!
Leave a comment and tell me what you are doing this summer!
